Information about the proposed quarry outside of the village of Gerrardstown, WV on North Mountain. Notices for Public Hearings, copies of documents and community exchanges.
INFORMATION ABOUT APPLICATION & PERMIT PROCESS
The North Mountain Shale, LLC is in the pre-application phase. The company has met with our permitting folks in the DEP Philippi office and submitted a pre-application form. The North Mountain Shale has also contacted the WV State Historic Preservation Office to review the site.
The reason you can't find information on line is that we haven't received an application for a permit yet.
Have you and others registered on line with the DEP to receive email notice of permit applications and other activities for your county or surrounding counties? You can do that by going to our DEP web site at www.wvdep.org and click on 'Sign up to hear about DEP activities and permits', and follow the directions.
Or you can periodically check the DEP web site www.wvdep.org for the Division of Mining and Reclamation section for Monthly Status Reports on permits. It has information on coal and quarry mining permits that have been issued in the past month, prospect approvals, permit transfers, significant and insignificant permit revision approvals, incidental boundary revisions, and permit renewal approvals, and etc.....
And on the DEP web page, under E-DEP you can check on permits either by the permit number, the company name, or the county.
If you have more questions, please feel free to contact me.
